Propoderm® | Sanitizing (Propolis)
Multimolecular complex of flavonoids from propolis in a free form, extracted without solvents (EMFEX Method) and granting purity, absence of allergenic and potentially toxic substances, and free from heavy metals. In effect, traditional medicine ascribes propolis antibacterial and antifungal properties.
Dermoxin® | Antioxidant
Mixture of carotenoids and tocotrienols from palm oil (Elaeis guineensis) protecting cells from photo-induced oxidation. Carotenoids capture radicals and tocotrienols have a higher bioavailability compared to the tocopherols and increase the intracellular accumulation. The antioxidant activity results in a marked soothing activity.
Aloe Vera Biogel | Moisturizing
Aloe stimulates cell production, providing 20 of the 22 amino acids needed by the skin to grow. It increases the production of collagen, the protein that accelerates the production of human fibroblasts from 6 to 8 times compared to the normal cell production. Due to its content of polysaccharides, it creates a barrier preventing the skin from losing water.
Cranberry | Anti-clotting
Evergreen dwarf shrubs present in the cooler regions of the northern hemisphere containing an abundant food sources of flavonoids such as proanthocyanidins, flavonols and quercetin. A-Proanthocyanidins of Cranberry have laboratory evidence for anti-clotting properties, versus certain pathogenic bacteria (i.e. Escherichia coli), which may prevent recurring urinary tract infections in women.
Lipoic acid 800 mg/2 cpr
Lipoic acid is a naturally occurring co-factor in several dehydrogenase enzymes in the metabolic pathway. Lipoic acid increases glucose uptake into cells by increasing the expression of GLUT-4 at the genomic level and the translocation of GLUT-4 receptors via its involvement in the insulin-signaling pathway in type II diabetics.
Berberine 1000 mg/2 cpr
Berberine reduces body weight, plasma triglycerides and provides a significant improvement in glucose tolerance thanks to the action of insulin. Berberine downregulates the expression of genes involved in lipogenesis and upregulates the one involved in energy expenditure in adipose and muscle tissues. Berberine results in increased AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activity in 3T3-L1 adipocytes and L6 myotubes, increases GLUT4 translocation in L6 cells, and reduces lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 adipocytes.
Monacolin k 10 mg/2 cpr
Chemical analysis shows that lovastatin and monacolin K are identical. Lovastatin and other prescription "statin" drugs inhibit cholesterol synthesis by blocking action of the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase. As a consequence, circulating total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol are lowered.
Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) | Prebiotic
They selectively stimulate the growth and metabolic activity (bifidobacteria and lactobacilli), respecting the subjective physiologic flora. FOS improve the production of short-chain fatty acids with antiputrefattive and trophic properties on the colonic mucosa. They facilitate the growth of an acidophilus flora preventing intestinal putrefaction too.
Mannitol | Osmotic
It is an alditol with six chiral hydroxyl groups at the level of the aliphatic chain composed of six carbon atoms saturated. It draws water into the intestinal lumen for osmotic effect, makes the fecal mass softer and facilitates evacuation. Mannitol is particularly suitable for the most sensitive subjects (children, elderly and diabetics) or in the presence of hemorrhoids, fistulas and fissures.
N-acetylcysteine - Mucolytic
NAC breaks disulfide bonds in mucus and makes it more liquefied, helping to cough up. It is also this action of breaking disulfide bonds that makes it useful in reducing the abnormally thick mucus especially in cystic and pulmonary fibrosis patients.
Zinc | Immunostimulatory and antiviral
Zinc is a micronutrient essential to the process of hundreds of enzymatic reactions. The scientific literature has shown that it can inhibit the replication of DNA-dependent virus and that it has strong immunostimulant properties.
Drosera (Sundews) - Peripheral calming
It is a plant rich in naphthoquinones. The tradition in use highlights the spasmolytic effect on the smooth muscle with positive implications in case of dry-tickly coughs.
Thyme (Thymol and Carvacrol) - Quorum Sensing Inhibitory
Known for its antibacterial properties, a study published in Biology Dissertations Department of Biology in 2010, showed that some of its components (especially thymol) can interrupt the communication between bacteria, reducing their ability to form biofilms to protect themselves from antibiotics and to transfer the dangerous antibiotic-resistance. These features make thyme a great "trailblazer" by supporting a possible antibiotic treatment.
